I agree with the good relationship but you also need to be fair to everyone. For a very skilled employee I guess a kind of raise must be given like a merit increase that is common in big companies here. There is also the award such as the Employee of the Month that comes with cash reward.

Well I agree with you giving him/ her free room is one thing but making him enjoy financially is another thing, no one wants to work and appreciated but not compensated.
