How can small scale businesses resist competition from large scale businesses?

It's safer and wiser to compete with businesses in your industry and those on the same scale as your small business. A large scale business has all it takes to counter, block off, and turn a small growing business ideas into its own, making it much more difficult for the small buinesses to progress. If you'll be ready fight off competition from the big ones, then ensure that you have everything you need to do so.

Second, how internationally transferable are your company's competitive assets? ... International sales bring some advantages of scale, but adapting to local preferences is ...

l have seen so many small scale businesses in my area that have failed because of unhealthy competition with the large scale competition. Most of those businesses tried using the penetrating pricing scheme to enter the market but yet could'nt succeed because the large scale businesses offers large discounts when they realise that strategy.

In your own opinion, what are some of your views about how a small scale business can resist competition from large scale bussinessesI.

I think there is not so much competition between the large scale business and small scale business.
If you want to compete a small scale business with large scale business, then you should provide all the resources and requirements for small scale business.

It's not easy for a small scale business to enter competition with a large business owners. The only way to escape such competitions is by being realistic with our goods and make sure you are very closed to your customers. One also needs to be very friendly and make those needed goods available at the time of need.

It looks a joke that small scale business can resist the large scale business, but it can creates wonder when small scale business creates challenges.
But commonly small scale business doesn't bother large scale business because it remains limited.
But by hardworking and 100% intent can create some miracles..

I really don't get what you mean by the word resist but in my opinion, a small scale business that is into the same products competing with a large scale business is just outrageous, I think the best thing the small business owner can do is come under the big business owner or form a partnership if possible

The government should always do their best to regulate some of these markets. This can be done either by the way they interact on a weekly basis with those small business owners or by giving them incentives as well.

This is key to achieving greater results at the end of the day.

The way to resist competition from a large scale business while running a small scale business is relocation. A large scale business has already put up a reputation for itself in the market, it's already tested and trusted so basically, a small scale business cannot thrive going against a large scale business and there is no resisting competition.
But another option is innovation, by creating something unique and luring customers with enticing discount, a small scale business might have a chance if the customers approve of the product. However, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Small scale business can succeed even while selling the same product or rendering the same service with a large scale business if the realize what makes them unique and utilize it to their advantage and that's personalized service. People like going to a place or business where they are treated well and given personalized service which might not be possible with large scale businesses due to the number of customers they have.

@Sincerem, he made his point though. Any startup that doesn't think of the big companies that rule the market isn't ready to do business. First, forget about competition and focus more on your brand. Look at the companies with the larger share of customer and ask around by doing market research to figure out what the customers would have love to see in the product they are already buying. Add it all up and improve your brand on that you will see the magic.

I don't think small scale business has any capability to face Large scale business when it comes to business competition and productivity, large scale business will surely bully the small one
I dont also think small scale business has the caoapbility to face large scale but I think the small scale business can have an edge if they try online advertisements and all so they can try facebooks ads and groups

Small businesses can take chances that would be more difficult for large companies. They can test new products in smaller markets, with minimal investment, observing variables and obstacles before deciding to try an idea on a larger scale.

First of all, in the start of small business, do not give attention to other large scale businesses and focus to increase your business in a well settled manner. Give your customers good offers and opportunities. Establish your name and business first then compete with large scale businesses.

Good advice buddy. Your point is really touching because if only most small scale business focus on their brand and serve the fewer customers they have acquired, those fewer customers will surely promote their efforts widely some day with time, that business too grows.

The key to competing as a small player is to stay focused on your market and not be tempted to deviate into areas either side of it, as you then run the risk of diluting your offering, and undermining what you have established. Some SMEs have succeeded by providing services that their much larger competitors are simply unable to do as efficiently or as cost effectively
Yeah you are right but let us look at it in an economical angle large business organisation are likely to provide cheap goods and services compared a newly established business so in a situation in which you find out that you are running into business and providing of cheap services we will not be the best option, what should you do in that situation?

You're very correct, dropping competition down the line, and focusing on the customers demand. Adding the needed commodities/goods that gonna entice the customers will enable your business to sell faster than what people can imagine.

@Sincerem Trust me, if they are afraid of ordering your product in bulk after the first trial they will be convinced to opt in for the product because of the additional that makes it better than the previous product with same price tag. If the market research is properly conducted and implemented, you have 70% assurance that they will be convinced and order more product.

The best thing the owner of small scale business can do is to leave the location where the business is competing with others and grow gradually in another area, but if he keeps itself at the same location, the business can run down.

that is not the best thing to do on my own point of thinking because if you said that the owner of the small business leave the location then there's no location he will go to that he will not still have a giant,so what you mean is that anytime he goes to a new location and a big Giants company come and establish another company in that place that he should immediately leave the place again is that what you mean ?

I don't think a small biz can ever resit the competition from a big firm. All they can do is strive to improve as much as people and never joke with standard of outputs.
I think this has been discussed before now. It is very possible for you to compete as a small scale business owner with a huge competitor. Let's take for instance Peak and Cowbell milk in Nigeria. It was popularly believed that Peak milk was for the rich and middle class Nigerians. However, Cowbell came with the idea that includes the less privileged in the society. With this strategy, Peak milk also had to produce sachet milk for everyone. This is what healthy competition is. You can shake the foundation of a large scale business. It all boils down to your strategy.
