Business owners and companies spend alot of money and energy advertising thier product and services online and social media. But what really sustain the business is delivery and interaction in real life by that I mean customers service.

They maybe boasting their businesses online but killing it offline. It is good to advertise but must also know how to relate with prospective customers in real life which in turn get more referrals offline.

Do you think some business owners or companies underestimate the power of referrals?
 
You're right, referrals are part of pyramidal systems also called "Multi-level-marketing", which often also work for offline businesses. So in my opinion, they are very important.
 
I believe that business owners underestimate the power of referrals because they focus all their attentions on doing advertisement and I will not blame them.

If only they can channel the some of the money and energy toward training and employing qualified customer service teams. If customers are satisfied they can help recommend and refer more people to the business.
 
Advertising online is very important but they must not underestimate the power of physical advertisements such as road shows,banners and bill boards.
Referrals are very important too and I don't think companies take such for granted.
As far as the organization offers quality products and services, swift delivery, effective communication, discounts to customers,such customers will not only be retained but they will also refer others to taste from your quality services. I don't find companies taking such for granted because customers and referrals are major aspects of business.
 
A whole lot. Especially in this world of social media and self acclaimed gurus on marketing who feel advertising is enough.
Referrals have been the oldest method of advertising and would continue to be. It shows that your customer base is loyal and can vouch for you anywhere

I know a business that has expand to different part of the country with the help of referrals from ONE happy and satisfied customer. He was a community and state leader and top socialite, he has lots of connections.
The business got several referrals linked directly or indirectly to the man that resulted to expanding to other states just to meet up with the demands.
 
Referral program in some business can also be one of the most effective strategy for a lot of people to make money especially marketers, most business are not always interested in because they are just interested on the profit they are making in their businesses which is not even the best..

Referrals are products of loyal customers, this means that if you meet the demands of your customers properly, it is possible that these customers are the ones that will link others to your business.
