Invest in anything that failed initially but succeeded later?

Was there ever a time where you invested in something, that ultimately failed before going anywhere, but then a while later, or years later, somehow it makes a comeback and succeeds. I've never invested in anything that failed and then succeeded later. I'm sure there are such happenings, but I have never had such a thing happen to me.

Anyway, do you still have investments active that hasn't panned out yet? Maybe they will succeed at a later date?

I have never invested in the same thing that failed previously. For instance, I owned a restaurant in the past, it failed and until now I have not considered to reinvest in a restaurant business even though I believe I have better knowledge and skills now and might be successful with the business.
