Do you pay by the hour or via contract?

If you're a business owner or boss, do you prefer to pay your employees by the hour or do you do a by contract basis? I have worked for jobs that paid hourly and ones that paid in full once a job is completed. I prefer hourly pay because you get paid usually at a weekly or bi-weekly pace. A contract job could take longer. Unless you decide to take the money first and then do the work until it's done. What is your preference?

I do not like hourly pay, either as an employer or as an employee. I not only like getting paid for task, or contract, but also pay my workers on task or contract basis. When you are paying hourly, your workers might start cheating on you.
