Can you allow a family member to manage your business?

Absolutely yes, and I also believe there is no harm in doing that.

Though people complain sometimes that you can realise the benefits or profit of a business when it's manage by a family member and I believe it depends on the kind of family members you have and their willingness to build on what you have started.

It all depends on the family members in the first place. The fact of the matter remains that in case if the family member is not loyal, then things may not be in your favour.
 
I can easily trust my family members much more than outsiders. I can let them manage my business if they have the necessary knowledge. I also trust many of my family members to an extent so I can entrust my business into their hands.

I will rather trust my family member with my business rather than trusting an outsider , but i dont just trust easily , the trust has to be earned , and moreover , i have been managing my brother business for awhile now .

The reason you have been managing the business is because your brother trusts you. I think it is easier to trust a family member with your business than an outsider. But of course it has to be earned.
 
After you have established you business you might need extra pair of hands to help you. Instinctively you turn to your family for assistance. But do you think that is a good idea? For me I will say yes as long as you can get someone that you can trust in the family. But the moment you see yourself doubting then don’t overthink it. It does not work out well most of the time too. Find a capable person that can assist you outside. The goal is to have a successful business regardless.

The only way I am going to allow a family member to manage my business is when I must have examined that family member's commitment to my business and see that he or she is willing to go extra mile to see my business succeed that I will be willing to allow him or her manage the business.

I've actually seen some family members who are very committed in helping their family business to succeed and be able to contribute everything within their power to see the success of the business and I've also seen those that are even willing and happy to see the business crumble. Just be careful who you choose to work with.

It is all about the mindset. Every business owner should be mindful of who they are getting involved in the business. Whether family related or not, each staff should thrive to see the business growing and not slacking off because of their poor attitudes to work.

The most important thing is for you to put efforts into evaluating everyone that's going to be part of your business. It doesn't matter if it's a family member or not, you must ensure that they have it in them to be fully committed to seeing your business prosper before you take them on.

That is what I always do because what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. I use the same parameters that I make use of in hiring to ensure that no matter who is coming in, they must be quality.
 
I can allow a family member to manage my business if I trust their abilities and believe it's the right choice for the business. Family members can have a deep understanding of the business's values and goals, which can be an advantage. But it's depends at the end of the times in my opinion.

When the person have already been in my business and proven to be committed and dedicated in seeing my business prosper, I can be free with giving him or her some management and leadership control in the business to find out how he can do in the higher position.

Trust, commitment and dedication are what I will be looking for in my family member who I want to let give me a helping hand with managing my business. Family members are complacent if you're not careful with them. I don't choose them with ease.

You need to put in more effort when it comes to evaluating and analysing any person that you want to employ to work for your business. They are the ones that are going to push the mode of your business operation on daily basis. Whenever you hire those that cannot be able to deliver on the job, your business is always going to be lag behind as a result of it.
