Depression is a feeling of pessimism, inadequacy and despondency leading to inactivity. The can be cause by many factors including the feeling that one has failed to achieve his/her set business goals.

How can this be prevented or dealt with?

1. Set reasonable goals for yourself: Set long and short term goals to a very sensible extent don't be too optimistic, then you will appreciate what you have achieved.

2. Don't compare yourself with everyone else: Don't start comparing yourself with Elon Musk, relax and take it step by step, you will get there in time.

3. Relax: Take time out to relax and engage in leisure activities, it will reduce stress and take your off the challenges.

4. Network with friends: when you networks with others, your learn and see that you are doing well, you will feel better about how far you've gone.

5. Be grateful for what you have achieved: When you magnify what you have, you will not feel bad about yourself, be happy with where you are, knowing that tomorrow is another day to achieve great things.

Any other suggestions is welcomed.
 
Failing to achieve your business goals this time shouldn't being depression to you. There is a saying that says when you fall down, you have to rise up again and so if you fall 10times, you have to rise up 10 times. That you weren't able to achieve your set business goals today doesn't mean you can't achieve it next time. All you have to do is to keep trying and never allow depression to set in. Remember winners never quit and quitters never win.
 
To deal with business depression or any depression at all, you have to seek the help of a doctor or a psychologist. Only them will check you and confirm if you are really depressed. They can also give you medications or tips that can help you cope with depression.

If you can't overcome it by seeing the doctor, then here are other ways to cope with it. You have to have a busy schedule, to keep your mind and body busy and forget about your problems.

It is really is the deal of this depression on the person is the real thing but being optimistic is a must as it accepts what should be happening or not or not must not be it will be to boost the depress one to him/her to overcome it so not blaming so much its self rather go to the best solution.

Over expectations is one of the things that makes people get into depression when they are not supposed to because of the agony of disappointment. Depression is really a bad thing to happen to anyone because most times, such people end up becoming useless and some even commit suicide.
 
If you know you are dealing with depression about a failed business or whatever then you should seek professional help first about the depression then look for a way to get your business back on it feet and always seek professional help when starting a business.
 
I agree I think it is important that when you are setting business goals you don't overreach or over-promise. Also if you keep comparing yourself to someone who started at the same time you will never find happiness and the right motivation to reach your goal.
 
When man fails its an opportunity to retract steps and make good decisions not being depressed. Because Rome wasn't built in a day.

Exactly my point on setting of goals, if the goals are reasonable, even if it hasn't been achieved, one can see that progress has been made.

The problem comes when looking from the standpoint of present situation, to the set goals position and feeling one don't measure up yet.
