If you hire anyone, you may be responsible for filing taxes on the amount you paid, depending on if it reaches past a certain amount every year. What this means, is that the IRS needs to know who you are paying for services, especially if you paid them over $600 in that year in the US. I don't know what it's like for other countries though.

A friend worked for a company that hired multiple people from multiple countries, and they all had to file differently based on their states. Taxes I mean.
