What’s the most surprising investment you’ve ever made?

What would you say is the most surprising investment you've ever made? I haven't invested in anything too major or big myself, but was there anything that you invested in that was a surprise to you?

Many years ago I bought two paintings for $10 each, the actual value of paintings was $100 but I got it for cheap because the artist was trying to raise funds for victims of natural disaster. I bought paintings to sell them later but I never tried selling them off.
