Should sports stars be able to bet on sports outside of their own?

I've been hearing a lot in sports lately where some sports stars are getting suspended and fined for gambling on sports, but sometimes these players are betting on sports they don't even play. Should sports stars be able to bet on sports they don't play in? Or should all sports stars be banned from better on sports in general? What is your stance on this?

It is very wrong for a player to play bet in the league which he is playing because there is a very big chance of him manipulating a particular match he is going to play in order for him to win the bet that he had placed. If you're going to play any bet as a sports person, you shouldn't play in the league that you are a part of.

As for those who get banned for betting, they clearly violated the rule. They signed the contract not to bet on any sporting activity. Why flout it? I've never heard of a footballer getting banned for playing casino before.

It is all down to greed that makes them breach the contract that they have already signed thinking that they are smart enough to do it in a way that they wouldn't be caught but it's always very difficult for you to avoid the public eye especially when you are a celebrity. This is there's a reason why most of them who go into betting are usually found out.

If a sports person is playing in NBA, he should be allowed to bet or gamble in any other sports like football, boxing, MMA, NFL and others except for any sports in NBA. They shouldn't be prevented from making extra money because they are sports professional.
