Does team size really matter in a business?

In teams, is size really the most important factor? It could be assumed that the larger the team the more productive they are as a whole but the opposite seems to be true. Very often larger teams are in fact less efficient per capita.

The productivity of any business lies in their workers performances. Workers performances is based or influenced by their skills and expertise. If they are not experts with good skills, they can never be very productive.

If you're serious about making it in your business as an entrepreneur, cutting down cost will be on your daily priority. If this matters to you, there wouldn't be any room for you to hire staffs more than you need. Why would you need more staff who wouldn't make more money for your business?

Well, cutting down cost of production is something that I take very seriously in my business of poetry and fish farming because whenever there is increased cost of production, it is always going to affect my profit making in the business.

It's always very annoying when you finish breeding a batch of poultry birds and you end up not making more profitable from it.

Well, when the physical operations size of a company is very big, there is no way it is going to be possible for them to employ a few workers to carry out the job that is required for them to do.

In this kind of situation, they will be having decrease in their production output because they need more hands on deck to be able to deliver on the numbers of output that are expected to reach everyday.

I have visited many companies where they had a really huge team of employees serving the customers. The fact of the matter remains that they tend to hire many people for that. This is particularly important for customer care department as they have to serve many people. Just imagine serving huge amount of customers who shop daily from big businesses such as Walmart, Burger King, McDonald's, etc.

Having a large team can be an advantage for a business, but it's not a guarantee of success. There are many other factors that contribute to a business's success, such as the quality of the products or services offered, the strength of the leadership team, the company culture, and the ability to adapt to changes in the market. A large team can be an asset, but it's not the only thing that matters.

Team size matters in big organization or business. However it is not all about the size but commitment and dedication of the team members. It is far better to have few serious and dedicated team than having tons of team which ain't contributing to the goals and progress of the business.
