Gambling is actually so addictive to people and extremely poor addicted to gamble, they also constantly have actually the poor sensation that they'll gain what is lost.
I have worked in several betting/gambling shops and have experience different people betting, why many persons still go ahead to play even about losing is because they want to try and recover what they have lost even if it's a little and some they are naturally addicted to it

Yeah , the only solution to overcome gambling addiction is by not thinking about it at anytime , and engaging more in other good and legit activities that can also help us in any way monitorely or for time pass.

Yeah , most of the normal gamblers are never satisfied with their winnings , though it's just a momentary feeling of happiness when they win , but they still prefer winning more and more until they lose everything with time.

Greed and silly hope that their luck can get better which they feel will help them recover their loss. Sometimes, if they have excess money, they will just keep gambling it away.
Gambling is an addiction. Just like people find it hard to give up smoking, drinking, or doing drug, gamblers also find hard to give up on gambling. They will continue to gamble as long as they have a penny.

It's hilarious that after a huge loss of money, some people still ho ahead doing gambling which can still end them in the same situation. One thing with such a decision is just that they believe that they may stand a better chance to get more money in order to replace where they had a loss and one thing with gambling is that, when once you are addicted to it, it can only take God's intervention to stop it.
That is the explanation that I am most agreeable with. I know very well how addiction works. Even behavioural addictions such as gambling work with the same effect as substance abuse addiction. So addiction is mostly to blame when people don't quit even when loosing.
