What is your best saving strategies?

Have you ever considered saving, which strategies do you use. Saving can help you in a difficult time like an unforseen circumstances. How do you go about your saving?

Every time I receive payment, I deduct 10-20 percent of my income and save the money in the bank account. I continue to do this for many months until I can use the money to invest. Saving is important but I give more importance to investment as investment will give you better returns compared to saving.
