I think that the one thing that gets very hard to do if you are new to wordpress is trying to understand the manner in which uninstalling plug ins will actually affect your site, because if you are new, and this could just be for me personally, i feel uneasy about uninstalling anything on the webpage just in case it results in a chain reaction that causes damage to the website and renders in unusable. There is no simple way to undo these decisions once you save them. Here are some ways to speed up your WordPress:
- Deactivate or uninstall the unwanted plugins.
- Delete unwanted database.
- Enable GZIP Compression. It will save a lot of disc space.
Setting up your own server can be very difficult especially if you are new to all of these different types of coding platforms. And I think that the amount of maintenance and security that goes into it as well can make it quite difficult. Compressing all pictures is a good way though, however there are platforms that you can use to reduce the size of a picture without losing too much quality so you still maintain the integrity of the site.Something I always check first is my server. If you don't have your own, you will want to check your host. If things look good there, then look at your active plugins. Sometimes outdated ones will slow down a website. You want to make sure ALL pictures are compressed. This can affect load speeds by as much as 5 seconds.
