I have not tried this myself but I hear if your content is long, has focus keywords and keywords that get moderate search hits, you can rank high. Maybe you could use "make money forum" as keywords for your forum. When I searched this keywords the rival forums like tendri, beer money, earn than buck appears on the top list.

The wordpress plugin you are talking about is useful only for on page seo. However, you also need off page seo in order to rank your website on search engines.

It doesn't matter if this site have been in existence before my site enters into the online fold. Remember, all this siye you mentioned based on a specific niche. It doesn't mean everything they post is same as yours. You might base on your own niche and post different from theirs, and yours will be listed on top base on your keyword which is preferred choice by search engines.
