YouTube isn't perfect, and the rules and their terms and conditions seem are there. But have you ever done everything by their rules and they somehow still ban your account? Have you ever dealt with YouTube in this sense?

Not yet and I hope to never have to because they like to drag their feet with everything and because Google owns them, good luck winning anything!
I have never taken any legal action against youtube. Some of the celebrities in my home country have taken legal action not precisely against youtube but against youtubers. They first filed the case in the cyber crime department of the police, and then police wrote to youtube to remove content. It is very common for celebrities in our country to report against social media content.
