Does real estate currently follow any trends?

I mean, is purchasing real estate alone or investing currently a fashionable trend? Since there was a popular trend at the time my parents purchased their apartment which had a name I can't recall of one-room apartments with tiny kitchens

I do not know of any trends in the real estate market in my home country. I do not know anything about real estate market in other countries. I once read that the trend of tiny homes is growing in the US but I am not sure if it is correct
