Creating your own PC game?

Has anyone ever attempted to create their own PC game? It doesn't matter how basic it is - have you been successful? Many years ago, I tried making a flash, racing style genre on Scratch. It wasn't 3D, but it sure was a lot of fun to play after devoting hours to developing and ruling out any bugs.

It needs a lot of knowledge of the software or hardware and in PC building there are hardware pieces or material that are imported from foreign countries so you cannot do it yourself fully it needs a team with you.

I wanted to do something like that in the 2000s and bought a book. However, I just didn't go thru with it. Anyway, I think I probably would have needed a strong gaming computer and I didn't have that then.
