One thing I'm always interested in is seeing how other people work with their content. I was setting up an e-mail newsletter for my job this morning and it got me thinking, how do people decide what is THE newsworthy item or items that go into the newsletter and out to the world?

For me in my day-job, it's important the news we put out reflects the different areas of our business. When it comes to the online side-hustle however, I like to stick with a metrics based approach. Is this content already performing well? If so, that deserves a spot. I also look at the obvious ones, such as am I really wanting to push this particular piece of content? Is this an easy CTA to get people to tune into the newsletter? All that kind of stuff.

How do you choose your key content pieces? Any insight you could share?

Normally I pick up content idea from competitor website/forum and also get some valuable insight form Facebook and other social media as people always talk about latest idea. So I pick some content idea from it.

When I was doing email marketing, the content I chose depended on my target audience. When choosing content, I always thought about the people who will be receiving my emails. If you know your audience, choosing content will be easier.

I am not in a position to suggest anything because I am not yet into marketing content, however, I believe you should promote content to the right audience. Choosing audience is very important.

When making up content for my website my content target the demographic because there are some things that interest people in my community more so I focus on those kind of topic.

Making well distinguished contents, well outlined, and engaging keeps your visitors to be entertained for long in your site. Better contents, makes a website worthwhile for visitors coming steady.

When I was learning SEO and digital marketing, my instructor always told me that I should focus on the content that re successful (generates traffic), instead of content that do not get any traction.

Not all content are created equal, which means some content will bring more traffic and some content will never gain traffic. You should promote the content that gets gtraffic.

It's a good one that you bring this thread in here for us that don't know much about content writing to learn and make use of it by the time we also become one. I really do like this thread tho.

I do so by staying updated with the trends and happenings in my niche. I receive daily newsletters to help me do so. I also use Google keyword search and trends.

I choose my content choices based on my area of interest. For example I choose football, politics, how to make money, technology as my content pieces because it's a hot topic generally

Writing a unique content got me thinking and I do lots of researches to make a mark. Sometimes, I compile various contents , I read them and digest it and then I come out with a unique contents. I also get my source from the YouTube. YouTube is the hub of information.

I really think most of them use copywriting style by just using all means possible to convince those they are promoting their content to and I think that is the best thing to do

Whenever I want to promote any content from my site I always ensure that I pick the one that people are more likely to be very interested in and one that has a very good reviews it value.

This is a really good question. An email list is curated with intention - you give the content to them that they want to read and promote the content that they want to know about. It's a community where everyone talks to you individually. If I build the community right, I will use my feeling and instinct to know what will hit home. I will then know what feeling I want to give to my audience and where I want to go with the whole thing.

I would also consider what products that my audience would be likely to buy and provide them with offers that fit their needs. As time goes on and people send me more replies, I will get a better handle on the people I have attracted and how I can best serve them with my work.

You cannot expect that content appreciate people or not if you do not have a large audience of people if there is no active interaction or if most of them are just generic or promotional comments. It needs to build a good community first.

Email marketing needs audience, if you do not have too many subscribers, you do not have any chance of getting traffic. Even when you are doing social media marketing, you need a lot of followers to get traffic. No followers or less followers means no traffic or fewer traffic.

The majority of these subscribers just subscribe and rarely they read their email means the rate of clicks for 1000 emails sent could be for example 5 people or the maximum 10 people and this is the sad truth.

That happens when you send emails to people who did not subscribe due to genuine interest instead subscribed because you were giving them some free stuff, such as ebooks, or you forced them to subscribe (for instance, you block content until the person submits his email address.)

For my newsletter, I usually start by checking what's been trending in my niche. If there's a hot topic or something my audience has been talking about, that's a no-brainer inclusion. Then I mix it up with some evergreen content to keep things fresh.
