If you ask me, then I would say that there are many businesses that you could take inspiration from. For example, Amazon and Ebay are two of those businesses that gained much popularity.
Alot of online business platforms has really been profitable on the internet and sometimes it depends on which of the business really worked out for you. You can engage in domin and that one is even more simple than any.

I think eBay kind of paved a way for so many other sites like Amazon and Etsy. It was such a big deal in the late '90s to bid and buy things online from real people. I remember when Amazon was just an online bookstore, and now look at it!
I think that Ebay is one of the oldest companies and online retailer marketplaces where you could buy and sell items. After the success of Ebay, many people tried to open their own online stores.
You pull inspiration from the big website in your niche. You cannot get inspiration from any how website. What I do mostly is to check some big websites in the same niche with to get some ideas from them. I checked their interface, page, design, articles and others.

Oh for sure! When PayPal became a thing, I think this is when the online marketplace really took off as well. They were the only option for a while too.
