I agree, there are several programming language out there as well, you can use jupuyter notebook for python programming as well.- it depends on your programming language of choice, so I cannot say a lot here, but IntelliJ-Based IDEs (like PyCharm, WebStorm) are very good and very widely used. When it comes to Windows - Visual Studio is amazing IDE.
If you are looking for something that is free to use and I think that I will suggest that you make use of python programming especially when it comes to the anaconda programming language because that is generally a freeware. Are you guys aware of some free programming software? I have limited programming skills, and for now, I just want to mess around with some programming software to get some of an idea of how it works. Do you guys have any suggestions for free and open source options? I'm open to suggestions of course.
Experiencing different methods of coding can be very helpful however I think that it would can also be quite confusing because it is like learning a completely different language when you are talking and as a result it is best to find one that you are most comfortable with and then stick to it.It all depends on what you want to learn but their are many sites which offers you to try your hand on them like Code Block so it helps to learn and experience new way to do coding. You can also use Visual Studio code which is very use friendly.
