What is the difference between rent and leasing?

The difference between lease and rent is that a lease generally lasts for 12 months while rental agreement generally lasts for 30days. Both the landlord and the lessee have to abide by the terms and condition of the lease for the duration of the lease

I have been hearing of this two terms in the real estate business for long now and I am finding it difficult to see the difference between them as they almost mean the same thing.
Guys what do you think are the difference between renting an apartment or leasing that same apartment?

The difference I think is the term of the agreement. If I am not mistaken when it comes to a lease it is generally for one year depending on the agreement, whereas with a rental agreement is generally for a month and it is renewed on a month to month basis. This is the main difference in my opinion.

There is a little difference between rent and leasing. Leasing generally lasts for 12 months and rent is lasts for 30 days. Some landlord offer six month, 18 month and 24 months leases, but a year lease is standard. Both the landlord and the lessee have to abide by the terms of lease for the duration of the lease.

They are both similar but not the same. Rent is short term while lease is long. the owner still still has full authority of the property in the case of rent, but in the case of leasing the owner has no business with the property for that period of time.

lease has to do with gaining the ownership of a particular property for a fixed period of time(specifically long term) while for rent gaining ownership is for a short period of time which in most cases is annual due

by leasing,the property is entitled to you for a fixed period of time but with rent,ownership is annual and payment is also annual

Well, I am hearing the word leasing an apartment for the very first time and I do not know what it means. All I know about real estate business is either you buy a house permanently or you rent for temporary basis. When renting you are expected to pay certain amount of money for a year which will be renewed every year untill you decide to move out.

They are quite different and not the same. Rent has to do with paying for space or building to be used for some time say months or years. Leasing on the other hand is letting your building or landed property to be used with an agreement that gives the customer some right on the property for the period of time he would be using it.
