Government bonds or so-called government bonds are bonds issued by the government of a country, there are also types of international bonds (sovereign bonds) denominated in foreign currencies (USD). There are many advantages if we have a government bond between: safe from credit risk or default, fixed income from periodic interest coupons set by the issuer. Generally, bond interest is higher than deposit interest or the central bank rate. The capital gain if sold on the secondary market will be greater than 100%. Government bonds as an investment instrument offer many advantages, but on the contrary, of course, there are also many risks that we should know about. So what are the risks of investing in government bonds that you know?

Interesting read, I don t think there are risks, at least I didn t find any, maybe if the government falls the bonds will not be valid anymore but this is not 100% legit, I mean I cannot prove that this is correct.

The government bonds can be a great option for the low risk portion of an investor's portfolio. They can also be a great way to begin investing in the market overall with little risk.

I don't think there is any risk of Investment in government bonds because it's just like your savings. If you are lucky ,you ll win prize .If not, then your money ll remain there as it is and you can take it anytime.

Government bonds are risk free. Though the returns is small but it is certain. Examples of government bonds are treasury bill, commercial paper etc. These government bonds are fixed and majorly medium term investment i.e 3months till 12 months. Considering any form of sure and secure investment, it should be considered.

The greatest danger with government bonds is Inflation, particularly for long bonds. In the event that you are purchasing a long term US Treasury bond that pays 3% yearly premium, you are facing a tremendous challenge, as I would see it. In the event that drawn out financing costs were to twofold to 6% whenever in the following 15 years, your bond would wind up being worth half what you paid for it. 6% premium on a long term bond has been the standard for the majority of the previous 70 years

I don't think this kind of investment scheme works in my country. Their is no such government bond investment. We enroll on other business that is lucrative with the government of the nation. But when it comes to bond investment I'm new to it. I think such investment module is mainly for u.s residents.

So, the risks to investing in T-bonds are opportunity risks. That is, the investor might have gotten a better return elsewhere, and only time will tell. The dangers lie in three areas: inflation, interest rate risk, and opportunity costs.

I was working in a bank when the government bonds experienced a calamity. Our peso was going down in value against the dollar that importation almost went to a halt. It was 1983 under the presidency of Marcos who was a dictator already. It was the Christmas season that we experienced without the traditional grapes, pears and apples because they are all imported. Anyway, the government bonds have gone down in value and there were a lot of losers.

Government bonds are usually viewed as low-risk investments, because the likelihood of a government defaulting on its loan payment tends to be low. But defaults can still happen, and a riskier bond will usually trade at a lower price than a bond with lower risk and a similar interest rate.

You are correct, although government bond is associated With lesser risks, we must still understand that we have some few risks associated with it, if you are investing on long term

I have always assumed that having government bonds will be risk free, since you are guaranteed interest from 'the' government.

If inflation affects bonds this way, it won't be a good way to invest. Or at least someone can diversify and not rely on it alone, so you have a cover if it fails.

Government bonds is a good investment although A government bond does present market risk if sold prior to maturity, and also carries some inflation risk — the risk that its comparatively lower return will not keep pace with inflation. Tax Considerations: Treasury bond interest is fully taxable at the federal level but it is exempt from state and local taxes.

Government bonds are preety safe and are reffered to as gilt edge bonds. One should have no doubt when dealing with the government when it comes to securities. The only problem is their returns are usually small because they guarantee you safety.

If you say bond you are referring to bondage. Stock has nothing to do with bondage because you have full control over your stock, you decide when to sell and when to reinvest, no have the right to place your stock on hold, that is my contribution, bond has nothing to do with stock I repeat

Along these lines, the dangers to putting resources into government bonds are opportunity chances. That is, the speculator may have improved return somewhere else, and the truth will surface eventually. The threats lie in three territories: expansion, loan fee hazard, and

Risks Associated with Investment in Bonds
  • Interest Rate Risk Diversification. Since the price of a bond changes as with the changes in the market interest rates, the risks that an investor gets to face is that the price of a bond will drop in case the market interest rates rise. ...
  • Credit Risk. ...
  • Liquidity Risk. ...
  • Inflation Risk.

A government bond is a type of debt-based investment, where you loan money to a government in return for an agreed rate of interest. Governments use them to raise funds that can be spent on new projects or infrastructure, and investors can use them to get a set return paid at regular intervals.
