The victims of the Ledger Wallet hack are now facing blackmail

Yeah and who can blame them if this keeps happening and definitely not the first occurrence of misplaced and stolen informations just hope security becomes tighter so as not to repeat
I think that this will cause people to move towards exchange platforms that are not regulated and as a result they will not have to share their personal information.

This is really dangerous, having your privacy in a fraudulent hand is very dangerous.
Well i think now the company may face more than what they expected for letting the information of their customers to get in the wrong hsmds

the company has been unable to protect it customers privacy as they promised and they may have to face a double charge now, first for losing investment and second for privacy brige

I have always taught that the hardware wallet is shielded from the internet and as a result, could not be compromised. The hardware wallet is seen as a safe way to store cryptocurrency.

I think anyone that comes out to create cryptocurrency wallets must prioritize security a lot.
Imagine these users going through this because adequate measures weren't put in place. This is why I'm always not too confident about these new projects.

This problem exists; not all people are immune from malicious comments and blackmail. Those who show aggression online should think twice before showing this anger, and those who go through it should know that they can seek help and get it from close friends or family members, or specialists. digitalforensics.com. It is important to understand that it is necessary to fight blackmail online and it is necessary to protect your rights. I am horrified that such a leak has been legalized, and I hope the situation will change soon.

Last year in June 2020 there was a hack on the Ledger hardware wallet where a lot of user data was unfortunately compromised. However, this is not the end of the leak. Having believed the leak to be contained, as it was not heard from over the course of the last six months, it seems that the hackers are now blackmailing the victims and demanding 10 EETH or 0.3 Bitcoins or else the information will be shared with local thieves.

There is over 20 thousand users whose information was hacked during this time. The company though has offered a bounty of 10 BTC for those that can find these scammers, and will likely present them for legal action when found.
This is a really sad story, and this further highlights the need for investors to be serious in their security and incorporate more features to keep their wallets safe such as two-factor authentication.

Isn't there a way to stop this nightmare, I feel sorry for all these people that suffer. Twenty thousand people it's a huge number, and I think those hackers should be taught a lesson. Not sure if this could help, but when some high school colleagues tried to blackmail me vis different anonymous messages, I asked https://digitalinvestigation.com/blackmail for help. Of course, my situation was much simple, but if there is at least a small chance to be helpful, I think the victims should try to ask for help from everyone.

It's the reason why some people are very sceptical of cryptocurrency. Those hackers could be traced more easily if they were using fiat, but they enjoy the anonymity given by cryptocurrency to steal .
