Should you just buy a new TV if you break your current one?

If you damage a tv and need to repair it, would you rather just buy a new TV? Or would your rather pay to get it repaired? I hear that usually it's best to just buy a new one, as a repair might cost just as much or more. Is there truth to that? Lets say it's the panel on the screen that went, would repairing it be cheaper or more costly?

I've always been curious about repair prices vs buying another one.

Most of the time when I have had a TV break on me when enquiring about a price to repair or even looking up prices, it is a lot of the time now cheaper just to buy a new TV.

I tend to buy a new TV if one breaks on me now.

First I would try to repair my TV, as it costs quite a bit of money, and a technician can repair it for quite a bit less than what a new TV similar to mine costs on the market, if I couldn't fix it, I think I would buy a new one when I could, I don't like to finance purchases.
