Marketing on a direct competitors site

Have you ever marketed your site or business on a direct competitors site? Maybe even one who is not a fan of yours. I think it's good to sometimes piggyback on the competition if you can. Sometimes competing alone is great for marketing. But, in turn, it can help promote your rival too, so keep that in mind.

I have never done this but I see a lot of people doing it. I think this helps as you can drive visitors from your competitor's site to your own site. However, this works only when your marketing campaign offers some tangible things, you need to offer better products and services through your marketing.
