How do you handle abusive people in game chats?

Playing against people on the internet can be a burden, especially when they are spouting off abusive words and phrases to you. I've heard pretty much everything under the sun when playing online. Call of Duty was my series, and I heard slurs and racism on a constant. I got into a lot of arguments back in the day. These days I stick to private parties and don't join in game chat anymore. Also got discord I chat on. What about you guys?

Sometimes in the past if people got too offensive I'd just report them. Some games also had their own report feature and I'd report them through that too.

I avoid getting into such kind of arguments with gamers as I knkw majority of them are very toxic. They will say a lot of things to get under your skin which will make you lose your focus. If they are getting too much to bear, report them and leave the game if you want to.
