I don't know if ads have any psychological affects aside from attempting to get you to buy an item or service. Ads will sometimes use buzz words, or try to make the product look like something impressive. Some ads can lie as well. So it really comes down to the person and whether or not they take ads seriously. I mostly ignore ads on sites as they rarely interest me anyway.
