What security protocols have you implemented on your forum?
In your experience, have these measures effectively mitigated potential risks?

I am using SSL certificates on my forums. Once one of my forums was DDoSed, so I am also using Cloudflare on this particular forum. I am using a comparatively harder captcha so that spammers do not bother to sign up on my sites. However, I have not used any specific security add ons.

These are ready security protocol implemented as addons for every website need just to purchase the option and move on and this will have some security impact even database backup or image disk recovery or snapshot of virtual machine or all these feature of VPS or Cpanel or Plesk.
