What security concepts do you consider while building apps?

Since security and development should go hand and hand, are there any security concepts do you consider while building apps?
Any extra steps you do to secure the software?

While I am not a developer and I do not have any skills in mobile app development, I believe developers use application security techniques at the coding level to make the apps less vulnerable to threats. Some of the important concepts are availability, integrity, confidentiality, authentication, and nonrepudiation.
