What are the jobs of estates managers?

As the title of the thread goes, I really wants to know what the work or role that Estate managers plays, what their duties are in a nutshell.

An estate manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the affairs of an estate or property placed in his or her care.
It is not the same things as an estate agent who links a client with the property owner.
The estate manager also ensures that the property in his care is well maintained.

Their duties are to act as temporary owners of the property - they make sure that everything concerning the houses are in order and sales and management of the property are in order and follow industry standard.
