I currently have a 3 monitor setup with my current PC and I was curious if I should use bigger HDTV as a monitor. I figure I could use it for when I watch YouTube and movies, and could put it to the side of my setup, but my system only supports three monitors and I don't know if I want to replace one of my monitors for a tv, or if I want to find a way to mirror it to the tv instead.

Would you ever use an HDTV as a monitor?

I tried using a 32-inch TV as a monitor, I thought everything would look great but the TV was too big to sit on a desk and you have to sit farther from the desk to get a comfortable view. Also, the display quality is sharper, and more detailed on the monitor than on the tv.

I did in a pinch when my old monitor was giving me issues. I prefer to use screens designed for computers. Less fuss and cable management.
