There is still another best way besides proof of payment. Namely a trusted application developer. If a famous developer makes the latest application. Users who get paid for the previous application will be interested in the new application from the developer that you share with them (if you know earlier).

Agree at this point, beginners mostly start with PTC. However all my ads advertised in PTC for writing website gained me no referral, so I have opposite experience with it.

I think these are great ideas that could help you get refferal ,but advertising on ptc sites are most times risky because most times those traffic are bots
