You have something right with the factors you mentioned , the team behind the coin and what they intend to achieve is also very important. I've seen some coins that were launched and uptil now they are not rise significantly.

I am of the opinion that price shouldn't be the determining factor. It doesn't matter if the coin is cheap or expensive, if it is a good coin and has a good project and idea behind it then it will grow. Most cryptocurrencies are cheap at the beginning in order for people to afford to buy them, but just because a coin is very cheap it doesn't mean it will necessarily go up in price.
