Should I view the property myself before making a purchase?

Though I realize that it is not as important in today's world because so many organizations offer inspection services for recently purchased homes and can warn you about all the issues, I do not currently have any plans to purchase real estate.

Do people spend a lot of money to buy property without seeing it for real? I do not think so. When buying an orange that costs less than a dollar you check it thoroughly, how could you spend hundreds of thousands dollars on a property without inspecting it.
