When it comes to working under any kind of conditions, it is always very important to consider this factor. Self-respect is very important in every aspect of life. So, professional life is no exception in here. So, when it comes to increasing your self-respect, what should you do?

You need to value your work, you need to value your potentiality, you need to be an optimist, and you need to keep on learning skills and upskilling yourself. If you are continuously improving yourself, your worth increases, and in the mean time your self-esteem also increases. However, sometimes you might end up being a narcissist when you increase your self respect.

Personally, I believe that the best way that you can be able to increase your self-respect as an employee is to make sure that you carry out your job without making any excuses. Try as much as possible to meet the deadline that has been given for each and every of the job that you're supposed to have delivered without making the management to call you in for any kind of questioning and try to respect the authorities.

This could be one of the best ways to increase self-respect. I think that one of the best ways to maintain your self-respect at work is to understand your self-worth as an employee. When employers observe the fact that you have been using your abilities for the betterment of the company, then they will surely value your contributions.

Personally, I believe that as long as you're doing your job right, there's no way that you're going to have any problems or issues with your boss. No one loves drama at work, not even the business owners. They feel more at ease when things are going well as planned.

I think the best thing you can do, is do the work to the best of your abilities, and don't sell yourself short. Do as much as you can, and I think most employers will see you're putting in the real effort.

Also, be willing to take mental health days when you need them. There's no shame in taking a break from your work if you need it. That's part of the self respect you need for yourself.

don't sell yourself short.....

This is something a lot of freelancers are doing today which whenever I look at it I'll be like what is really going on with a lot of people because I don't understand the reason why simply because they want to be relevant in a competitive market, they are going to sell themselves and their services short. All they are doing is making a mockery of the whole services that are they are offering.

I think that there are so many people who never realise their self-worth because it might be possible that they may have a limited thinking capability. if you want to achieve something big in life, then you may also need to think big. This is what many successful people do in their lives. They may start small, but since they think out of the box, they are capable of doing many different things in their life.

When you don't know your self-worth, it is going to be very difficult for you to know exactly how to put yourself up in a situation where you are dealing with other people. This is something that usually makes a lot of people to have inferiority complex where they are working. They will always be feeling indifferent towards anything that is done to them by other people at work.

This is how I know anyone can increase their self-respect as an employee at their workplace, they are ;

1. Do your job as and at when you're meant to.

2. Don't beg at work. Begging sells your dignity for a penny.

3. Don't ask to be paid upfront when it's not how the company makes payment.

4. Avoid being into unnecessary gossip at work.

I completely agree with the second and third options that you listed here because this is something that I have seen take place at my workplace with some people that are usually of the habit of begging the boss and asking for money to do one thing or another before the time they are going to be paid their salary. They have always been talk down on because they have already sold their dignity for begging.

You have actually made very good points on how to increase your self-confidence at work. I have equally used so of those tips to boost my self-confidence at the company where I'm working currently.

But on the OP's topic, what's being discussed is how to increase your self-respect not self confidence. You can make your contribution on that too.

I think that there are many different ways you could increase your self-respect. Working as an employee requires you to show your self-worth. If you are qualified enough and if you enough your self-worth, then let your employer know about that. There is nothing wrong with that at all. In fact, it is a great thing. Employers should know what their employees are capable of doing. They should recognise the talent possessed by their employees.

Before you get employed by any company, I believe that they must have evaluated your capability to know that you can be able to deliver on the job they are employing you to do, otherwise it is going to be very useless for them to employ someone who is not going to be able to deliver and they are still going to be wasting money paying the person by the end of the month or whenever they're paying their workers.

Let's go out from begging anything from my boss at work or my colleagues, I don't beg money from anyone or ask for loan. I can't stand begging for anything and I will be declined. Shame is going to deal with my ego. This is why I won't try it at work.

Personally, I see asking for loan and begging in the same way. The only difference is that one comes with an interest whenever you're paying it back and the other may or may not come with any interest or it won't even need to be paid back. They both make me feel uncomfortable and it's why I don't ask for them.

Each and every employee may get evaluated. However, there are so many employees out there who tend to learn how to work in a much better manner by the passage of time. By the passage of time, they become experts and much better at their job. This is how they increase their respect.
