How many stories are you allowed to build?

In our country, the maximum stories you can build is three stories. I am talking about building a house. This is the maximum allowed. I am not sure about apartments, though. Some people build more than three stories when it comes to building condominiums. So, when it comes to building maximum stories, how many stories can you build?

I do not know how many stories can someone build in our home country. I have seen houses with 6 stories, however, I do not know what is the maximum limit for residential houses. Real estate companies have developed 10-12 stories of residential units, and commercial properties are even more taller.
