How can inflation affect pensions?

Inflation is a really huge problem in many different countries and this is a well known thing. However, I think that there are many pensioners who also get affected when inflation increases. So, how does inflation have an impact on pensions? Does inflation have some kind of negative effect on pensions?

When there is an inflation, the value of money will go down. For instance, if you were buying 100 grams of bread for $1 before inflation, you might be able to buy just 50 grams of bread for $1 or have to pay $2 to buy 100 grams of bread. So, when there is inflation, pensioners will have hard time surviving.
