Fixed Affliate rate vs recurrent affiliate rate?

We've come across various paid platforms and they have one thing in common. They have Affliate programs where members can earn money by referring new members via there affiliate link.
However, some pay fixed rates like this forum. It can be $1or per new member invited or 10% referrals deposit just once.
Others pay a percentage rate like 10% of your referrals earning for life.

Which do you prefer?
I prefer the recurrent option because you can easily earn over and over again.

What are some examples of recurrent affiliates? I have just tried to search for it and found that when you get choose to work with an affiliate marketing program that offers recurrent affiliate commissions, you do not get paid when the customer demands the product one more time. Does this include software subscription services?
