Ever been caught using black hat techniques or accused of it?

I have never utilized black hat techniques in SEO, but I know people who have. Some succeed in doing this, others don't. For those of you who have attempted to use black hat techniques, did any of them work for you? Or did they backfire instead? If you were caught, how did it go? Were you penalized in any way?

I have never used any kind of black hat SEO. I have multiple websites and sometimes I interlink related websites or related content (if the niche and topic match). Someone might call this PBN backlink but my sites are authority sites and are not created to create backlinks
