If the current Australian dollar interest rate is 3.25% per year and the Japanese Yen is 0.1% per year, then by buying AUD/JPY, a Carry-Trader will gain a profit from buying AUD, and the trader earns 3.25% interest. at the same time when selling JPY, the trader pays 0.1% interest.
