Building will require your time and constant monitoring, you may even fall into the hands of selfish and greedy contractors who will use low quality materials, but you will know it was built to your taste and preferences. The question buying a house or building it myself.
I will prefer to build my house myself, building it to my own taste and having a lovely structure the way I will love it to look like.
And on the other way round if the house is well built I may go for it.
