My wife and I still cannot afford to buy a house because of the interest rates and economy. Everything is getting more and more expensive. We are considered buying a duplex and living in one side and renting out the other. The mortgage would be around $1,900 so if we are able to charge $1,000 for rent, it will help cover more than half the cost for us and allow us to afford it. This is just one house we are looking at though. Has anyone done this here? Is it a good plan or too risky?
