Aeroplanes - Aviation’s future?

Got me thinking about a business idea recently.

As I’m writing this, I’m travelling a long haul flight. Why do Airlines not have Electric Batteries and powered by electric solely? We’ve seen how fast they can go and how quickly they can accelerate.

Surely, there must be a way to engineer a battery that is powerful enough to travel a few thousand miles - even if it started with short haul or private jet journeys.

Do you think it’ll be better for the environment, and bring Airline tickets down? Not sure how something like this could be engineered.

Maybe we need to put this idea inside Greta Thunberg's head. She travels in a private plane and talks about adults not being serious about climate change.
Well, I have often thought about battery-powered planes. Maybe we will start seeing electric planes for short distances shortly.
