It is easier said than done. There are several things that go into government and anything that could pull a bit of power from them is outrightly unacceptable. Leaving bitcoin in the hands of people is like giving them some power that the government wouldn't want to.

The government are so against cryptocurrency because it is making people to stop using the normal banking system to store their fiat currency. This means that most people are taking away their investment from a government controlled economy to cryptocurrency.

Basically bitcoin and cryptocurrency to an extent is decentralized and thus government won't want to adopt anything that they cannot control. Also they see it as treat to Fiat Currency

My take on the issue of banning the Bitcoin and crypto by the government is the crime. Crypto is easy to use to launder crime money. Sellers of illegal drugs are now in the internet. They take orders and the drug is delivered by Grab or other couriers. The payment is by crypto to the crypto wallet. That is not easy to track down.

All the reason in which the government in my country are saying for the banned put all the coin is nothing to be scared of in anyway,but they are only doing this for their benefits not for the mases I guess.

Maybe because bitcoin users may not have to pay the tax , or also the important reason is bitcoin can be used for the illegal activities such as drugs and others.

Government can control paper money, it can track where the money came from and where the money is going (because transactions happen through banks), however, this is not possible in bitcoin.

I think they see crypto currency as a threat to there fiat currency which can eventually depreciate if care is not taken but they never think foreword to know they can also build their own coin of their currency.
