At a very young age, I began to assist my parents, but not out of a personal desire. However, I would not want to treat my kids the same way since they are not my property and I want them to know that their mother is not as youthful as she used to be and that they may be of assistance.

In our culture, kids as young as 7 years are expected to help parents in house hold chores. But just in fun way

Kids of 5 years should start helping even if it is in minor things. To me I believe this is also part of making the kid smart. It shouldn't be a tough task though, something like "fetch me some water, get me that item et cetera" is quite reasonable to start with.

I started helping from the age of 6-7 at home, especially cleaning or washing dishes and those things, I see it as something positive that children start to take responsibility for small things from a very young age.
