This is exactly the first and reasonable thing to do as a beginner. If you are really interested in it, you should be able to bring out time and study to be able to understand.

Even me I've lost

You just don't invest in any coin that does not have basis. Even as popular as dogecoin is, I am still scared of investing in it because I do not have much trust in the coin.

Any cryptocurrency that has the influence of a celebrity should be invested in with care. Because once they make their profits, they are likely to withdraw their money from the investment.
