I too don't know the exact difference between bitcoin and ethereum except that bitcoin is number one crypto currency (based on market cap and price), where as ethereum is number 2 based on market cap

Apart from the name both assets are bearing and the price I don't see any major difference between the two of them. It seems that I like that Ethrium more because it is still available at cheaper price compare to Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is better suited as a utility coin. It came with its own chain. Ethereum is a broad use token with the most popular and robust smartchain. Ethereum offers more uses or functions than Bitcoin.

In terms of cryptocurrency Bitcoin and Ethereum we can equate, but if we look deeper there will be striking differences such as in terms of the use of the two cryptos, in terms of blockchain, the amount of crypto and the length of transaction time etc. I don't understand the difference between the two cryptos, can you explain?
I think that both of them are top 2 cryptocurrency in the coinmarket cap list. They differ in prices. Bitcoin is at $40k price range while etherium is at $2,400 price. I think bitcoin is more famous than etherium. Its because bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that was introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto, a mysterious guy.

Apart from the two being a crypto currency. There are many differences between the two.
Talking about mining the coin. The two don't use same mining protocol. I don't remember there names.
And when we talk the developers of the two coin. Bitcoin is unknown while etherium is known. So there are many differences in the two coins.

Ethereum and Bitcoin share many similarities. In this article, we’ll try to highlight the most fundamental differences between them.

The biggest difference is the purposes or ultimate goals of these projects.

Bitcoin aims to be a store of wealth, a digital gold if you will, and eventually become a globally adopted currency which could improve or replace conventional money to some extent. The purpose of Ethereum is to become a platform upon which smart contracts and decentralised apps can run.

Another important difference is the supply. Where the number of Bitcoin is capped at 21 million ever to be produced, Ethereum is not capped to any specific quantity. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum are produced in a process called mining. There are plans to shift Ethereum production to a proof of stake model, which should be more environmentally friendly than mining. More information on proof of stake can be found in the links below.

There are several technical differences in the technologies that underpin the Bitcoin and Ethereum platforms but at this early stage of these projects, they may seem very much alike. As these projects grow and mature, however, the differences may become much more apparent and could affect their trajectories quite differently.

For the fact that bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that the world has ever known and as such is the most valuable and expensive cryptocurrency in the world makes it different from Ethereum.

Bitcoin blockchain has limited use case, however, Ethereum has multiple use case, you can create tokens and smart contracts on Ethereum. Ethereum also has a native token which number two in terms of market capitalization.

A lot of good points have been made and there isn't a lot that I can add. Bitcoin and ethereum are two different coins, with two different mode of operations.

Simply put, Bitcoin is a crypto currency while Ethereum on the other hand is a technology many companies of these generation make use of To build other programs. But Bitcoin cannot be used to build other programs.

Well thanks for sharing this with us even though I didn't even understand the real difference between both of them,i only understand that bitcoins is just the cryptocurrency and it's the first one while ethereum is an altcoin. Ethereum network sometimes it is more expensive than bitcoins.

We should even focus more on their similarities, Bitcoin is far ahead of etherium interms of volume and popularity, the major difference is the fact that etherium block chain have a lot of token it feeds from.

Difference between bitcoin and ethereum...
The difference is the fact bitcoin is nothing more than a currency, whereas Ethereum is a ledger technology that companies are using to build new programs. However, ethereum is more robust.

Bitcoin is new form of digital money that operates outside the control of any government or corporation while Ethereum proposed to utilize blockchain technology not only for maintaining a decentralized payment network but also for storing computer code which can be used to power tamper-proof decentralized financial contracts and applications.

I really don't know much about their differences but I've noticed quite a number of startup coins were built on the ethereum network before having the ability or fund to own their own block chain network, I look forward to learning from this thread because only those who study these coins in-depth will really know their significant differences.

When you study and check both coins ,you would see the there is still a huge difference both in the price , market cap ,and if you check the transaction fee of both coins there is a lot of difference in there

They are two similar crypto currencies with little differences.
I think apart from the fact that they have two different founders or inventors, they are of different values, with bitcoin taking the higher place.
