What are the effects of divorce on pension plans?

Divorce is a kind of state where two married people may separate their ways in a legal manner. There are many kinds of people who may go through such kind of conditions in their life. Having said that, do you think that divorce could have any impact on pensions?

If you are a pensioner, and you divorce, your spouse will have no control over your pension, he/she will not get the benefit of your pension (however, you will have to give alimony or property for divorce settlement). THis is a standard legal practice in my home country.
