While freelancing marketplaces like Fiverr and Upwork are a promising avenue for online workers, making good income on freelance markets, especially for newbies, can be very difficult. However, there is no such thing as impossible, all you need to do is create a strategy that actually works. As a new seller, aiming to make good money, you need a targeted approach. Research and identify the most sought-after skills on the freelancing platforms where you want to operate. Offer your services to meet these high-demand niches, and optimize your profile based to your skills and expertise. Instead of broader niche, focus on micro-niches, which helps in sales as well as building authority in your chosen field.
 
Starting out you gotta promote a ton. Make social media accounts, promote your services. If you have reviews, show those off. Once you get something going, make a website to promote your site even further.

You may need to also provide samples of your work to help people choose you faster. If your work is quality, it will draw in more buys eventually.
 
I do not think promoting your freelancing services on social sites, especially when you are new, will help you much. If you are selling on Fiverr, your gig must rank high on searches. If you have built a reputation on freelancing sites, promoting on social sites might bring you clients, though.
